are cereals such as cinnamon toast crunch that contain trisodium phosphate, safe for my family and i to eat?  there's an uproar about it!!!

Accepted Answer

Boxed cereals: generally contain all sorts of additives, preservatives,and food coloring.  Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat are better.  If no time to cook, plain old Cheerios is better. Maybe put some fruit and cinnamon on top.  Peace and good health.

Safe: The phosphate salt is for pH balance and not for anti-bacterial use.  Your body is full of phosphate salts and they are an important part of your metabolism.  Nothing here to worry about and it is safe to use long term.

Avoid those: As a kidney doc, i would recommend against it since phosphate  from enemas can sometimes deposit in the kidneys and cause acute kidney failure.

Probably fine: Tsp is actually used as an approved food additive in the us and eu and in low doses has no toxic effects.The dry powder is caustic to the GI tract and fumes may produce superficial irritation or cough. Your body will dispose of any irritant issues before it could ever get to baby. If you use it in a well ventilated space its irritant quality will be minimal.If you want daddy to do it solo, let him.

Depends: Hi. Yes, for most patients, Janumet (sitagliptin and metformin) is safe and effective. As with all drugs, carful consideration needs to be given to the individual patient. If you have chronic kidney disease beyond a certain level, metformin can be unsafe. Sitagliptin is being looked at for a link to heart failure (being LOOKED AT...Not an established risk!). So as always, talk with your doctor. Good luck in achieving control

Yes....but: If you have blackheads (also called open comedones) then the better treatment would be something like Retin-A (tretinoin). Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid products can also help with blackheads and are usually available over the counter. If you are in india i imagine a great deal of medicines are available at your local pharmacy.

is clindamycin phosphate  lotion safe for me to use when i have crohns? i read online its not safe, even topical use. this medicine is for random acne that appeared. 29yr male?

: No real evidence that it’s bad. The systemic form (IV or oral) often causes stomach upset and, uncommonly, may cause a diarrheal condition termed C. Difficile colitis.  However, no evidence that either systemic form exacerbates Crohn’s.

The warning about the topical form is simply extrapolated from the IV/oral forms without any direct proof.  Of course, absence of proof is not proof of absence!
