Safe vs effective: Tribulus has been used safely in 8 week studies, but it didn't seem to enhance body composition or athletic performance.   The effects of longer term use are unknown. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10861339?dopt=abstract   so, the question might be whether you want to spend your money on that, vs a better coach for your training.   Or, maybe more sessions with the coach you already have.  :-).

Tribulus terrestris: There is no proven effect on hormone production, including estrogen.  Like most "alternative therapies" truly objective controlled studies have not demonstrated effectiveness.  If curious about hormone production, see your healthcare provider for advice and testing.

Inconclusive: Some studies suggest benefit but most do not. Probably safe as a supplement for a short time if you're healthy but it has risks including possible prostate problems in men. It may interact with some meds (beta-blockers, digoxin, calcium channel blockers)
and may cause blood sugar to go too low in diabetics. The spiny plant (also known as puncture plant) is unsafe to eat.

Tribulus terrestris: Has been shown to increase some hormones in certain animals, but has not been shown to increase testoterone  in Humans. There is evidence it may contribute to the development of diabetes, and prostate problems. In general this is not a natural product that seems to be beneficial when evidence is held up risk versus benefit ratios don&#x27;t work out. Probably not safe to use, are better alternatives.

Stopping tribulus: Terrestris supplement will cause the side effects to subside. It has not been determined to be safe for long-term use and its benefits are inconclusive. It may be unsafe during pregnancy as it may harm fetal development.

It depends...: This depends on what form as tribulus comes as standardized extracts of various strengths. The whole root powder is taken in doses of up to 6 grams a day while extracts are taken in doses up to 750 mg/day. A Thorn In My Side: No evidence either way. Not much evidence for anything. Someone else asked a question implying they wanted to know if it improved 'boner' growth or function. Maybe, if you area rabbit or a rat, but not a human. And even in the rats the studies sucked. Lots of herbal or other plant-based substances come in and out of fashion. The constant battle between the allopaths and naturopaths. will never end

: Tribulus has been known to interact with heart and blood pressure medicines such as Beta-blockers, Digoxin, Calcium channel blockers, Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and Nitrates.
