There is no cure.: While there is no cure, a number of medications have been tried to lessen the symptoms, including:

albuteral--a drug used for people with asthma, amino acids, carnitine, coenzyme q10, creatine, fish oil, green tea extracts, vitamin e, steroids.  A neurologist who specializes in muscle disorders would be most helpful to you.

Tx options.: Wear looser clothes, take off some weight (if that is the cause) & avoid prolonged standing & walking. Acetominophen or nsaid’s can help with pain.  Sometimes corticosteroid injections, tricyclic antidepressants &  anti-seizure medicaitons are used. Surgery is rarely necessary.

Pap smear ?'s: Squamous cell abnormalities by themselves will not affect your fertility, but some treatments for squamous cell abnormalities may need to be implemented, or later fertility issues will occur.  Early squamous cell issues are easily treated, so see your gyn physician for further information and treatment.

Close, but...: Visceral hypersensitivity is believed to be one mechanism thru which ibs manifests--but there are many, each representing a target for possible treatments. Effective therapeutic options include: receptor-mediators, various antidepressants, motility-acting agents, non-pharmacologic approaches, more. Distinction of ibs from organic pathology is critical. As to your "continous pain", don't you sleep?

hello dr. i have got a case of acute on chronic calcific pancreatitis.. is ercp with eswl only treatment option available or any medicines ??

No meds: There are no medications that will help with the stones.  Surgical treatment by a surgeon with experience and interest in chronic pancreatitis has the best chance at longer lasting pain relief, but is obviously more invasive than ERCP with ESWL.  Hope this helps!

Accessory Treatments: Things you can do to improve eczema: 
1 Avoid triggers- ex dietary vs clothing, allergens. 
2 Add an antihistamine
3 Keep the skin extremely moisturized, you can use a thick gel like vaseline
4 Short hydratint baths, sometimes with oatmeal producs. 
5 visit a naturopath regarding accessory treatments, 6 dietary changes, avoid milk, gluten etc.

can laser photocoagulation be used to treat macular degeneration? i was recently diagnosed with the "dry" form of macular degeneration. is having laser photocoagulation a treatment option available to me, and would this prevent further vision loss?

There : There are two main classifications of macular degeneration: dry and wet. The dry form is generally less debilitating, slower progressing and more common. The wet form generally has a much more profound effect on vision, is faster in its progression, fortunately less common and can vary greatly in treatment response. Treatment for the wet form can range from laser, a procedure called photodynamic therapy, injections into the eye (a relatively new form of treatment) and surgery. Now, treatment for the dry form is more controversial. It can range from simple observation, controlling one's lipid profile and a specific vitamin therapy. A type of laser procedure called ttt (transpupillary thermotherapy) has been used but with little success and traditional laser photocoagulation is not the procedure of choice for dry macular degeneration.

R u on max meds?: If you are on a maximal medical program such as nitrates , beta blockers and anti platelets and your already on the newer agent Ranexa (ranolazine) then eecp is a nice option . If no other revascularization options are available such as angioplasty or bypass then( if a candidate qualifies) then transplant may be an option for refractory angina.

i repress emotion and continue to hurt my loved ones. what treatment options are available to me without insurance? do i need to be on medication?

Accepted Answer

Repression: You should always start with an evaluation and counseling as forms of treatment. You may have some inner childhood experiences that might be making you repress. Medication should only be a last resort and I am pretty sure there is no medication that can help you unless some psychiatric pathology is found.
