SPECT of what?: Visual snow? I'm lost. If you have positive symptoms (flashes, sparkles, ringing, noises, tingling, etc)  that come and go the issue may be migraine or focal seizure. What did the EEG show and if negative what did the repeat EEG show? SPECT?

itchy butt for a year. level 10 irritation, worse when sweating. wakes me up nightly. ive tried every treatment under the sun (inc pin worm) and seen 2 doctors. no relief. no visual signs like scabs, sores etc. what should i try??

: I suggest that you visit a dermatologist for the proper cause and treatment of this problem. In the interim, I would suggest making certain that you properly cleanse the area after each bm, preferably with a mild soap and warm water. There are several creams that can be used to reduce the irritation and itching, that contain an anti yeast and cortisone cream. See dermatologist for assistance.

went to gyn to show a fleshcolored bumb in outer labia that i had at least 6 mths. she said it just a mole or sth like that, not std. would i.e. hpv been recognized just by visual exam? she also said that the bumb does not require any treatment

Yes  &amp; yes: After appearing as a small bump the HPV wart strains blossom into a multi-lobed structure that resembles a cauliflower. Six months is long enough for it to change into such a pattern. If you want it off it can be frozen, lasered or burned off with chemicals. It is likely not worth the discomfort.

Treat The Cause: There are numerous causes of visual snow.  Determining the cause may lead to a treatment, but there is currently no single treatment for visual snow or any treatment that works well.

Accepted Answer

Depends: The treatment depends on the cause.  Sometimes just the passage of time to allow the blood to reabsorb is enough.  Other times injection of medication into the eye, or laser treatment are required.  Your ophthalmologist will be best able to determine the appropriate treatment.

VARIES: The visual aura precedes the headache phase, and triptans could stop the event depending on an injection of Imitrex or usage of a nasal spray or pill from 10-45 minutes. Many choices include maxalt, zomig, frova, amerge, treximet, relpax (eletriptan).  Maybe prevent headaches with topirimate, or depakote, or even otc like butterbur, feverfew, riboflavin, magnesium, co-q-10.

Glaucoma : Glaucoma is generally defined as optic nerve damage (from high eye pressure or other causes), which can lead to changes and decreases in vision (the visual field of vision).  Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness.

are there any at home treatments for the visual aura preceding a migraine? any way to get vision back before the headache, or do i just wait it out?

Accepted Answer

Not really: The aura is your warning that a migraine is on the way.  It could be a cue to start the medication which you use to lessen the effect of the migraine.  But there is no way to stop the aura and I am sure you are hoping that something that would stop the aura, would also stop the migraine - but that is not how this works.
