Vaginal Discharge: Vaginal discharge is a combination of dead cells, cervical mucus and exudate from the vaginal walls. Lactobacilli, a type of sugar fermenting bacteria keeps the bad bacteria out . Excessive is a relative term since the amount can vary with age and hormonal changes. Infection needs to be ruled out by examining the discharge with a microscope and pH paper. Consult with your physician.

More likely: a fungal (yeast) infection. Exam to be sure and treatment with anti-fungal medications can be then started. With your doctor's  help it is possible to learn about conditions that increase recurrences of yeast infections, such as pre-diabetes, or polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Discharge is normal: It's normal to have some discharge every day.  What's not normal is discharge that smells funny or causes itching.  Or excessive discharge such that it's wetting your panties a lot.  If that's the case, and you've been checked for infection, it's likely something in your environment that your body's responding to.  Either a soap, a lubricant, your boyfriend's condom (like an allergy).

More than a UTI: Probably you had more than a UTI, which doesn't cause genital pain (except pain when urinating) and doesn't cauwse vaginal discharge. WHY?: If your discharge is "normal" why would you want to undergo surgery? ( which by the way doesn't exist for this "disorder")  check with your gyn.
