Burn: You have to be quite careful with wounds caused by second or third degree burns because of the propensity for infection. A specialist in wound care may debride these wounds carefully but no one else should interfere with the healing process especially since a skin graft is planned.

Many: We rate burns;
1st degree is a sunburn;try aloe
2nd degree is a blister: leave it covered, don't break the blister, and some otc antibiotic cream/ointment is O.K.;rx silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) is better.
3rd degree is burned thru the skin and must be seen by a dr.Many ramifications.

is olive oil good for the treatment of burns on the skin?

Accepted Answer

Sure: Anything oily or greasy is good for burns. Usually vaseline or Aquaphor. Membranes such as Bioclusive can be very useful because they keep the juices in, functioning as an artificial skin. Vitamins and herbals are useful only to the extent that they are greasy.

Allergy?autoimmune?: This sounds as if it could e an autoimmune or allergic disease . It could also be paresthesias from diabetes. You need to be evaluated by your internist or dermatologist.

Not really...: Tea tree oil is effective against germs and fungus because of the presence of terpenoids like terpenin-4-ol. It has also been used in allopathic medicine and in the treatment of burns. Studies have shown the cytotoxicity of tea tree oil against human fibroblast and epithelial cells and therefore it has been suggested that tea tree oil should not be used on burn wounds.

after the treatment of acne? what can i apply on my face? still have an oil skin? are there products suitable for my face?

Benzoyl peroxide..: Many of the otc acne cream/washes are made of benzoyl peroxide preparation which has a drying effect and non-comedogenic (not clogging pores) and thus decent to use as a treatment/maintenance for acne care. Avoid excessive rubbing/scrubbing as this will make it worse. The anti-acne pads can remove the oil quite well, but again, don't rub/scrub too hard. Consult doc if not better. Good luck.

i had 2nd degree burns on my hand the pig skin grafts peeled off. is coconut oil ok to use on my new skin? how effective is it? i was burned by oil.

Not a fan of oils: Not sure how far out of the burn you are and how far the healing has progressed. So I'll answer as if the graft failed early on. I tend to be a fan of collagen dressings with or without grafts. I have been successful treating second degree burns with nothing except daily cleansing with dilute dakins solution and collagen gel as a primary dressing and then a non stick secondary.

Hydrocortisone cream: You might want to try some otc Hydrocortisone cream 1% this will help resolve the inflammation.

See a surgeon: It sounds like this is a serious burn.  Risk of infection as well as future scarring can be significant if not managed appropriately in the early stages.  Please seek care from a plastic surgeon or a general surgeon specializing in burn care if available.

had canker sore and applied undiluted clove oil. now, bigger more painful sore. think it's burn from oil. hard to talk/eat. advice for treatment? thx

Call your dentist: This sounds miserable and the clove oil aggravated it. Unfortunately there isn't much that can help resolve a canker sore quicker.  Call your dentist to see if it needs to be looked at.
