Could be. : Not as likely in your age.  Vertebral artery narrowing can cause dizziness. These vessels can be damaged in neck trauma. If you have had no recent accidents then they are probably ok. These vessels can become narrow when people are 50 or older. If therapy does not work, ask your doctor to check the blood vessels in your head and neck.

Broken blood vessel?: Patients with dry eyes and allergies can rub their eyes and experience recurrent broken blood vessels from the physical trauma of rubbing the eyes.  In some patients it can be due to elevated inr (too much coumadin) or excessive use of Aspirin or ibuprofen.  Treating the dry eye or allergies can reduce this.  If you have easy bruising or bleeding, check with your primary care doctor.

Self limited: This condition, known as a subconjunctival hemorrhage, is usually very benign, and does not require any treatment.  Usually fully resolved within 1 to 2 weeks.

No treatment: There is no treatment for a subconjunctival hemorrhage. These tiny capillary leaks do not cause visual symptoms and take a week or so to clear. If they occur repeatedly or if you have frequent unexplained skin bruising, you should consult a physician for blood testing. Taking aspirin or medications like ibuprofen,naproxen or corticosteroids can lead to easy bruisability as can vitamin C deficiency

It will: Resolve on its own.   Not much you can do but watch and wait.  Looks bad. But really nothing to be alarmed about.  Can be caused by a cough or sneeze.   If blood gets into front part of your eye.  Seek medical attention.  But if it stays in the white portion.  It will resolve on its own

Ruptured vessel: Assuming you are correct and only a burst blood vessel all the damage that was occurred, the body will take care of the blood vessel and it should completely go away. It can take a few weeks.

Subconjunctival hem: Subconjunctival hemorrhage is common. Typically this will resolve, but may take up to two weeks. If no visual problems typically no need to be seen.  However, if concern about vision get checked.

It often comes with straining or trauma..

It can be frightening but innocent.
It will resolve without drops and without visual damage.

Usually friction: The vast majority of conjunctival hemorrhages are caused by dry eyes which can be helped with artificial tears. Sometimes, the bleeding can be worsened by use of anticoagulants such as Coumadin (warfarin) or plavix. Other causes include uncontrolled blood pressure and bleeding disorders. If you have headaches or other symptoms, please see your ophthalmologist right away.

Subconjunctival heme: Your description sounds like a subconjunctival hemorrhage which is very common.  The most common cause is dry eye/ ocular surface irritation which would explain your headache.  I would try using artificial tears and observation.  If you develop decreased vision or increased pain, you should see an eye doctor.
