Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment.” however, if you are taking it at bedtime (and not using alcohol) you will most likely do fine.

Don't Worry: Using alprazolam together with trazodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Xanax and trazodone don’t impact the same pathways in the body. Xanax affects the central nervous system and trazodone impacts chemicals in the brain, so this reduces the risk of dangerous interactions with Xanax and trazodone together. Dispose of past meds.

: I don't recommend taking them as their effects may be confused with ongoing symptoms of a head injury, namely drowsiness, concentration difficulties, lightheadedness, coordination problems &amp; forgetfulness.

Pregnancy risks: Benzodiadepines including xanax (alprazolam) are rated category d in pregnancy.  This means that there is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but in life-threatening or serious illnesses the risk may be acceptable if there are no safer drugs available.  Trazodone is category c, meaning risk cannot be ruled out but no human studies prove safety.  You, your ob, and psychiatrist need to confer ; weigh risks.

Depends: On how alert you feel the next day. Trazadone notoriously can produce hangover sensations, and might make it unsuitable to drive. Being on both Alprazolam and trazadone sounds like overkill to me, and long-term use of benzodiazepines for sleep is not necessarily the best thing. There are other psychological treatments for insomnia/anxiety that are ultimately healthier and give more normal sleep.

As long as: You are not sedated.  You need to be thinking coherently with good reaction times. There are some people who have residual grogginess with these medications.

Cause for insomnia?: Referral (possibly to psychiatrist) for thorough evaluation of your insomnia might be the smartest request you could make.  It's better than asking for more medicines when it's not clear "why" you're having this problem.  If you're still taking vyvanse (as on your other info), this may be related.  Ambien (zolpidem) can indeed result in feeling "weird" -- also doing odd things at night after taking it.

Watch for sedation: Trazadone  at 50-100 mg is often added for sleep difficulty as it can be sedating at low dose and work as antidepressant at high dose.  Most people tolerate the medication well but watch for sleepiness/lack of alertness or lightheadedness the next day. You and your doctor can monitor how effective this combination is for your symptoms and of course , any side effects that occur.
