Unusual: See your orthopod. Groin pain is usually from the hip but could have other causes.  You could have had the DVT as a result of surgery, but I would also check your homocysteine level.

my left hip surgery was 10 weeks ago on june 2nd.. i am still using cane, limping, stiff,, have groin pain and spasm ,  buttock pain .. is this still ?

Hip surgery: Presumably you had a hip replacement. It will take several weeks of rehab and continued exercises such as walking to get normal function back. However, if you have other symptoms such as fever, you should immediately see your surgeon to rule out any infection. Aquatic therapy may be easier on your body and will provide the much needed exercises. Good luck

i fractured my l1-l4 transverse processes . after 6 weeks still having lots of pain, stinging in hip& buttock. pain down leg. is this normal?

Back Fracture: Fracture of the multiple transverse processes can damage structures adjacent or passing through this bony structure.  Pain down legs suggests involvement of a nerve or nerves.  This could be due to bony fragment, swelling, muscle spasm or nerve injury.  A follow up visit with your doctor and possibly a repeat MRI or nerve conduction study to determine cause.

Probably not: Pcos is quite common. I have never seen a patient with buttock pain that was related to pcos.

Disconcerting: This needs a thorough and immediate evaluation, as could be due to problems with blood vessel flow, pathology in the spinal cord or lumbar stenosis, and cannot exclude inflammatory problems.  See a neurologist or a neurosurgeon asap.  This is not something for watchful waiting.

Good exam: Sacroilitis and Piriformis syndrome are causes for radiating pain to the hip/buttock but at the end of the day, you will need a doctor experienced with low back pain to do proper musculoskeletal exam to pinpoint the area.

my wife has lower back/buttocks pain due to pregnancy. can we use transact plasters and/or norflex to elevate pain? is it safe?

Topical: Topical, or skin based treatments, would be the safer option, and better than norflex.  Also, stretching and heat will help to soothe the muscles.  OTC anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen can be used but not excessive doses.

Neurosurgeon: The radiation of pain to the buttock and leg does point to a herniated disc at the lower lumbar region of the spine(l3-4, l4-5). Since your symptoms are worsening, I recommend an evaluation by a neurosurgeon. A repeat mri may be recommended. Epidural steroid injections, physical therapy and surgery are therapeutic options.
