Stridor: Tracheal collapse is usually congenital or dur to extrinsic compression, infection, inflammatory conditions, or prolonged intubation. Trachea normally expands on inspiration and narrows on expiration. In conditions of collapse the first noticeable symptom would normally be expiratory stridor or crow as air release becomes more difficult due to exaggerated narrowing of the trachea. Need evaluation

Needs exam: Do you have a thyroid problem??
The thyroid gland is often larger on one side than the other or a thyroid nodule may be causing the tracheal deviation!  An ordinary physical exam can determine the above...if negative a chest x ray is indicated!

Pressure: The high pressure that is produced when air gets into pleural space is so great, that it pushes the trachea to the other side.

NO: the trachea is slightly mobile and can be palpated and moved from side to side.

Yes: It is quite difficult to tear a trachea because it is both tough and protected.  A fear would allow all kinds of the wrong things directly into your airway and would require surgical repair.

Aspiration: In an otherwise healthy adult, aspirating a small bit of food or liquid will trigger a strong cough which should expel it.  Aspiration pneumonia is quite infrequent in healthy adults.
