went to urgent care, dr rec x ray of elbow & said it looks fine. dx = strained tricep tendon.  recd sling/ice/meds/rest. how do i know its not torn?

Triceps tendon: Firstly an X-Ray will not tell you this. You either need an Ultrasound or an MRI to determine a tear.

dr gave me sling for a strained triceps tendon. its helping to immobilize but so uncomfortable. is there a brace available to do the same thing?

At your age: muscle strains heal better without immobilization.  Immobilizing your shoulder, elbow and wrist can cause worsening symptoms in areas that were uninjured initially.  Immobilization is typically utilized only for unstable joints or other special circumstances.

how do i deal with ulnar nerve and/or part of tricep tendon flipping over medial epicondyle without surgery?

: Need to keep your elbow bent.  You should see an orthopedic or hand surgeon as soon as possible.  You will have to cope with having surgery at your young age.

Orthopedic surgeon: Triceps tendon ruptures or avulsions from the olecranon process require operative repair to restore elbow flexion strength.  The repair is more successful if done acutely.

Bone Spur: Recovery is based on the amount of work needed to repair your bone spur. Full recovery following surgery can take anywhere from one to six months.  Most patients resume activities within several weeks.

Likely Unrelated: It is quite unusual for someone to have pain in the back of the elbow after a shoulder surgery. Nothing is impossible, however, so i would bring it up with your shoulder surgeon at your next visit just in case.

the left side of my neck is stiff and if i massage my neck coming down to my collar bone there is a tendon that when touched sends a painful rush down my in my armpit and to my elbow through my tricep muscle. do i need to see a physio or a doctor?

Start with your doc: It sounds like there is some nerve involvement as suggested by pain radiation. Would suggest starting with your doc for an exam and detailed history. Along the way physical therapy will definitely help.

calcific tendonitis measuring 4x1 mm involving the olecranon insertional fibers of tricep tendons.  will this heal? risks? advice? treatment? thanks

Varies: When a tendon has chronic or multiple of episodes of inflammation and/or injury, calcifications can develop.  At 4x1 mm they are extremely small.  They don't really heal.  One way to look it is they are really just a symptom of of chronically irritated tendon.  Treatment involves addressing the cause of the tendinitis.

if my tricep is torn does it have to be surgically repaired?

Muscle no/tendon yes: A muscle tear will heal without surgery within 6-8 weeks. A torn tendon needs to be surgically repaired to restore elbow extension. See a board certified orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation and treatment.
