i have serious lower back pain on the right side  .it is now day 6 .ive been to the doctor and she said it is sciatica . she gave me tripiline and stilpayne . nothing changed and it is still very painful. what is my next step?

It's time: to seek input from Physical Medicine.. An M.D. PHYSIATRIST and PHYSICAL THERAPY experts!  A referral to a PAIN specialist may eb involved but without INPUT from the first two....I would advise delay...

i went to urgent care with horrible pain in my hip and down my leg. they said it was sciatica and gave me steroids, anti inflammatories, and a muscle relaxer. i now have a tingly numbness from the knee down. should i be alarmed?

Give it a little tim: Sciatica, defined as pain radiating down your leg to the foot, is usually caused by a irritated nerve in your lower spine. It is not uncommon for symptoms to occur and later resolve. Anti-inflammatories and stretching can often help. If your symptoms are severe, have been going on for 6 weeks or more, or associated with weakness, you should see your physician for evaluation.

If you experience loss of strength in a foot or leg, or loss of control of your bladder or bowel function that constitutes an emergency and you need to go to an er.

Nerve Pain Medicines: Medicines like gabapentin, gralise, lyrica, (pregabalin) amitriptyline/nortriptyline are typical medicines to help with the nerve pain from sciatica.  Sometimes muscle relaxants and nsaids can be helpful as well.
