what might cause shin pain after injury to the top of the foot?

Anterior Tibialis: Tendonitis could be a direct result of an injury to the top of the foot.  The tib ant as it is often called starts out on the lateral leg or shin and courses down your leg and spreads out on the top of your foot. It is the main muscle/tendon involved in raising (dorsiflexing) your foot.  If you injure the top of your foot you cna injure that tendon as well and it will not function well and hurt.

You can try ice: to locally numb the pain   OTC ibuprofen or naprosyn (naproxen) would help.  If these don't work, your doctor can prescribe patches or stronger pain meds.  If your doctor thinks your condition is shin splints, or stress fracture, then you should also rest the area as much as possible.

Get Rid: Of the boots and sounds like shin splints. Rest, ice, elevation and stretching will help. Take some Motrin os something similar.

Varies: If you do not remember injuring it, it would seem unlikely that it truly is a sprained ankle.  It can represent a localized area of inflammation or even a muscle strain or possibly a radicular pain from your back.  Consider being seen for a thorough evaluation.

You : You are most likely right that it is your soccer that is causing the pain.  It could be "shin splints", which is an irritation and pain to the area on the inner portion of the shin, and if it is then you need to rest from your normal activity so that it could heal.  Another, more rare possibility is a stress fracture.  If the pain persists then please see a physician as you would need to be evaluated for stress fracture.

can ankle stiffness and shin pain as well as swelling be symptomatic of ankylosing splondylitis? my father was diagnosed a swell as older brother.

No: These are not typical symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis.  The main symptoms are back stiffness and pain.  Typically pain proves with activity and increases at rest. Other joint swelling, and a type of tendinitis called enthesopathy also occur and could cause the symptoms you describe but your description does not sound typical for this disease

: While growing our bones will grow quicker than muscles.  Thus you develop an imbalance requiring stretching of the muscles.   As we get older and more sedentary in life our muscles will become tight thus requiring stretching   Everyone is different in their flexibility. Recommend seeing a physical therapist and develop a plan.

i had a cbc, and had high mpv of 11.5. is it possible that i have leukemia? i do have several petechiae dots over my body, but not in a rash. also have intermittent ankle/shin pain. doctors say it's stress cause i have anxiety. other cbc stuff normal?

: MPV is a measure of platelet size &amp; some people have larger ones or the newer ones (stress related)are sometimes larger. Platelets are one of the shorter living cells, lasting only hours to days and normal overall platelet counts are good evidence leukemia has not invaded the blood production areas.
