Change toothpaste?: Certain people are sensitive to the ingredients in some toothpastes.  You could be one of these people.  The solution may be as simple as changing to another toothpaste. There could also be a more serious problem, so if it lasts for more than a week you should talk with your dentist or hygienist.

Stop using it: When you have allergy towards anything you should avoid using it . Please consult with your dentist  to see which tooth paste is appropriate for your mouth.

Irritant reaction: Hydrocortisone or a stronger topical steroid can help.  Why would you deliberately put toothpaste on your skin I wonder?

Burnt skin?: I am not sure your exact problem. I have not heard of toothpaste burning any skin surface. The gingival in your mouth is skin related. I will need more information. Toothpaste is only effective to clean teeth.

Burnt sking: Several of my pts have commented that they are sensitive to the many fillers and flavors found in commercial toothpastes.  Consider a more natural toothpaste.

Keep it lubricated: Keep toothpaste of your face and moisturize the area.  You can also just keep it covered with a light coating of vaseline and the skin will rejuvenate itself within 2 weeks.

Time: Unfortunately, time and being kind to your skin is best treatment. Keep the area clean, out of sun, and try petroleum jelly on it. Vitamin E oil is also soothing.

For your mouth: Toothpaste is formulated to be used in your mouth. If you have redness outside of your mouth please see your physician.

Use warm compresses: Not sure about the toothpaste, although to be honest i would avoid it to prevent irritant contact dermatitis in that sensitive area. Warm compresses will help express the contents. Avoid  squeezing the area as well and jf you see streaks or surrounding areas of redness you should see a doctor because you might need antibiotics.

i have ppp and tried using toothpaste to remove but it only made it worse by drying out my skin and making the papules shinny?

Accepted Answer

Leave it alone: You gain no benefit from treating a normal condition other than expose yourself to the side effects of that treatment. If you leave it alone the body will heal over time.
