Oral Surgeon: Your own dentist or Oral Surgeon needs to evaluate this and see whether any other treatment is indicated. Sometimes it takes awhile, even two weeks or more for complete elimination of radiating or referred pain following a surgical procedure.  Contact your own dentist to discuss.

Recovery period: after wisdom tooth extraction. The time needed for pain in the jaw and earache to disappear completely may be as long as 4-6 weeks. If concerned, see your surgeon for post-op exam.

2 avenues: See Oral Surgeon to evaluate extraction site.  See ENT to evaluate sinus.  Sounds like infection, and that requires more than OTCs.

Yes, you can still: have ear pain, but you should have a doctor check your ears.

See surgeon : Very interesting. There may be some residual inflammation from the surgery or an issue with an adjacent tooth. I would strongly recommend contacting the oral surgeon and inform him of this ASAP.

Yes: Severity of pain depends on severity of the procedure. Have your surgeon examine you for any post operative complications.

See your doctor: You need someone to look in your ear today. Although it might be wax or fluid it could also be a viral hearing loss. Your primary care doctor should be able to see wax or fluid, if not you need to see an ENT doctor.

post impacted wisdom teeth extraction have random ear pain in one year. i have developed tmj. best way to reduce inflammation? taking ibprofene.

Inflamation: It is not uncommon to have some ear soreness after wisdom teeth extraction. It most likely due to muscle and TMJ strain during the procedure. 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hrs should be enough. It may last 3-4 days before it gets better. Alternatively, if the discomfort is unbearable, some steroids can be prescribed. Try to have a soft  diet and to chew no gum until it gets better.

what are the signs of osteomylitis in the upper maxillary jaw. 1 doctor thinks i have it & 1 doctor says i don't! so i am going  to get a 3rd opinion. my symptoms  are cheek bone pain, ear pain, teeth/extraction site pain, & pressure. no fever.

It can: If they gave you a plastic syringe to irrigate, then be good about it.  Otherwise, get a waterpik.   It happened to my daughter...and the surgeon did an excellent job too!

It will all be ok once it heals..no worries.  If it gets worse, then  call the office and ask to be seen.  Most likely, it will continue to improve.
