White is normal: in the mouth a healing cut or sore will be white. A similar scab on the skin would be a dark red to black.  What you describe is normal healing. Do not disturb the extraction site.

Shouldn't see one.: You really shouldn't see a blood clot, at least you hope there is one in the hole where the tooth was.  Other clots from general bleedingmight just be larger globs of blood.  But as far as that hole...You hope the clot stays in the hole.  This is what we think avoids a dry socket and the problems that follow along with them.

Are you bleeding?: If you aren't bleeding, then you formed a clot. If you're asking because you're worried about "dry socket, " you should stop worrying. Aside from smoking habits, there's very little you can do to cause or prevent "dry socket" and it has little to do with with the clot anyway. Unfortunately, lots of myth and misinformation about this has been passed on from patients and dentists alike.

Yes: Oozing from an extraction is not unusual. However, it can be minimized by application of direct pressure to solidify the blood clot.  This is done by folding gauze up, fitting it into the gap where the tooth was removed, and biting down so it compresses the site firmly.  Maintain the pressure for several hours, changing the gauze as needed.  Repeat if any bleeding or oozing recurs.

Extraction bleeding: It is possible that if something disrupts the blood clot that bleeding can occur. If this is the case you need to see your oral surgoen or dentist asap. It is likely a suture or 2 may need to be placed to cover the extraction site and put pressure on it to control bleeding.

Post op issue: Have it looked at by the dentist who extracted it. This is normally considered part of routine free follow up aftercare.
