OTC Pain Meds: Lidocaine ointment is more a topical anesthetic and really won't do much. See if you can move your appointment up, most offices can accommodate an emergency.

Periapical cyst: It is the most common dental cyst, and it is caused by pulpal necrosis.  This condition is treatable by root canal therapy or extraction of the offended tooth, and the cyst should be enuclated.
Rec.: do not delay visit to your dentist due to the potential chronic infection and future complications.

i have pain in my neck going down the back of right arm. also my pointer finger feels numb, like when u get lidocaine for tooth ache.what causes this?

Nerve impingement: can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain, finger numbness, etc. Prevention treatment is always recommended. See interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management.

See your dentist: Sounds like the numbness is in the area of the facial nerve.  You may have a case of bells palsey or a virus that effects this nerve.  See your dentist to rule out a dental cause or see your physician.

Differential Dx: A clinician makes a list of possible diagnoses when trying to figure out what is going on.  You have made a list of two and either or both is possible.  You need the next step of your doctor testing and identifying or ruling out what is happening.  Please and good health.

Multiple symptoms: You can either research hundreds of possibilities over the internet and sites like this or see your primary care physician as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis and treatment. I would recommend the second.

Pain spreads: Yep.  A tooth pain can make other head and neck pain.  Sometimes just from the tightening of the muscles from the pain.  A toothache can give you headaches and if it is an upper tooth it can make your eye and cheek not feel to good.  Get it looked at asap. Earl.

Self medicating ?: If so, not a good idea. Who said you had an infection? You may have a deep cavity and a vital nerve... Antibiotics will do absolutely nothing for your problem. Call a dentist before your pain becomes unbearable. If you are currently under the care of a dentist and you have this problem, call the dentist.

TMJ-TMD: Temporo-Mandibular Disorder is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. TMD can be divided into disorders related to the muscles of mastication and those emanating from the TMJ. Earache and is a common symptom due to the close location to TMJ. Proper diagnosis is the key for the successful treatment. Rec.: orofacial pain practitioner for evaluation and treatment.

been having tooth ache on multiple teach and mouth for a week or so, breathing causes irritation i'm traveling atm is 2weeks 2long to wait to see dent?

Perhaps: If you are having sensitivity on multiple teeth and you are considering waiting 2 weeks to seek help then the problem is not that important or debilitating.  Since it is multiple teeth and air bothers it, you may be just clenching and grinding your teeth.  Airplane cabin pressure also causes problems along with sinus congestion.  Try not to grind your teeth and also take an over the counter decong.
