Usually infections: Chronically enlarged tonsils are usually due to infection. A primary care doctor or an ENT doctor can evaluate. If there are many bothersome symptoms, recurrent infections, snoring / sleep apnea, etc..., the doctors may recommend removing the tonsils. Antibiotics can treat the bacterial infections.

In person: Would recommend an in person exam as there are criteria for treating tonsillitis. In many cases a swab is needed based on exam and that will expedite treatment. Your doc will be best otherwise any walk in clinic.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor, or better yet an ENT specialist.

Chronic : Chronic tonsillitis can be quite bothersome.  Failure to respond to several courses of antibiotics might be an indication to have a tonsillectomy.  You might want to se an otolaryngolist, ear nose and throat specialist, for further evaluation.

Many possibilities: This could be a fungal or other tongue infection, dental or gum disease, post-nasal discharge, acid reflux. Go and have an ENT doctor or a dentist examine you and go from there.

: There is no "more powerful" HIV test. Negative 4th gen HIV test results more than 6 weeks after exposure always overrules symptoms. For sure you do not have HIV; something else is causing your symptoms. And despite what you think you learned online or elsewhere, symptoms like yours are not typical of HIV anyway. See a doctor if they continue or you remain concerned. Good luck.

Swollen tonsils: Anything that irritates your tonsils will make them swell. Highest on the list is recent viral exposure, followed by acid reflux, nasal congestion, and allergies. Bacterial tonsillitis usually includes headache, fever, swollen neck lymph glands, enlarged tonsils and sore throat, with a coating on the tonsils.

Sore throat: Your sore throat and tonsil enlargement can be secondary to post nasal drip from nasal allergies. Ask your doctor for a steroid nasal spray, it will appease your symptoms.
