i have tonsil stones that keep coming back and the tonsil area inside my throat looks reddish and a bit swollen but no pain at all. its just the uncomfortable feeling and a bad smell from tonsil stones. any help i can get? i am in johannesburg.

Biofilm: So, these stones are a part of a chronic tonsillitis.  The &#x27;perfect&#x27; way to get rid of them is to have the tonsils out.  Most people don&#x27;t want to do that so, why not try to brush the tonsils or use a waterpik &amp;#40;or other type of jet&amp;#41; to blast them?  Then, you can try mouthwash with Chlorhexidine in it to kill the bacteria.

Tonsil stones.: Tonsils are filled with nooks and crannies where bacteria and dead cells and mucous become trapped. The debris becomes concentrated in white formations that occur in the pockets and tonsil stones, or tonsilloliths, are formed when this trapped debris calcifies. This tends to happen most often in people who have chronic inflammations like sinusitis. Cannot prevent them except tonsillectomy.

Tonsil stones: Please see a specialist ENT for evaluation and treatment of your tonsils. Removal may be your best option. Also see your Dentist. Most bad breath is caused by dental problems such as compromised oral hygiene, gum pockets, failure to clean tongue, improper brushing routine, and most often failure to floss daily. Bad breath can also signify systemic disorder. Go get evaluated.

Tonsils: Tonsils may develop small white patches that are simply dried surface secretions and have no medical concern. If there is no abnormal asymmetry of tonsils, no redness or pain then infections, such as strep or mono are unlikely. Thrush tends to cause scattered white thin exudate on the palate and cheeks or throat, and less so on the tonsils.

i have recurrent tonsil stones (have had since childhood) & now boils on my legs. could these be related? i use antibacterial soap for boils but they leave and come back

Likely not: Recurrent boils are more likely a reflection of an invasive staph that resides quietly in your nasal cavities &amp; spreads to your skin surface when you scratch. Triple antibiotic 2X/d at the front of your nose may stop this as may 1 cup of bleach in bathwater daily for a week. Some may require oral antibiotics to end nasal carriage of staph.

Tonsil : Tonsil stones form when debris builds up in the tonsillar crypts ("craters") or in a pocket that sits above some tonsils.  Rarely would someone need tonsils removed due to stones.  Some people get help from gargling with salt water to keep the bacteria count down in the throat.  A waterpik set on low can be used to squirt out the stones when they form.  The stones are harmless but can cause bad breath, bad taste in the mouth, and irritation.

Need to examine: The symptoms you described warrant examination by an ENT doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Tonsil stone: In general you neednt worry about swollowing a tonsil stone. Most of the time they condist of cagilated food.
