Been what?: Sorry, your tongue has been what for three weeks? Did you bite it? Have a sore? Three weeks is a long time as the mouth and tongue usually heal quickly. See your dentist to have any sore looked at.

Yes: Yes. Sounds like a problem with the twelfth cranial nerve - the nerve that moves the tongue. See and ENT doc ASAP to determine the cause.

Do not ignore it: Any new growth is concerning and warrants attention. Leukoplakia, a white growth on the mucous membranes of the mouth and elsewhere, can be malignant or premalignant. Smokers and heavy drinkers are especially prone, but everyone should be alert to this issue. A check by a dentist, oral surgeon, or ENT specialist is definitely in order!

See an allergist: Painless swelling that resolves within a few hours is called angioedema. It can be associated with hives, occur on its own, or can be associated with a few diseases. If you are on blood pressure medications such as lisionpril, (ace inhibitors), these are notorious for causing such symptoms. If you are  not, you should see a board-certified allergist/immunologist.

teeth bitten trauma: First we need  to know the nature of the swelling and if the swelling is painful how long. So it can be just from trauma  or from growth. Sometime sharp edge of tooth or partial prosthetic that cause ulcer and it grow to tumor. It might need biopsy to diagnose the lesion.

Tongue hurts: Usually the side of the tongue hurts when it has been bitten or there is an irritation, such as hot foods or liquids or reflux of stomach acid into the mouth. If you see a thick coating on your tongue, gargle with warm salt water frequently. If the irritation persists, go see your primary healthcare provider -- you may have a fungal infection.

Bell's palsy maybe?: Do you have any jaw fatigue or pain on that same side when chewing your food?  Did you have a cold or flu within the past couple of weeks?  Any sharp pains behind the left ear?  Any trouble holding saliva in your mouth or does the left side of your face feel funny or look odd compared to the other side?  You may be at the beginning of Bell's palsy.  See doctor sooner rather later for treatment.
