both little toes are red from rubbing in my sneakers.  i put toe pads on them but they don't help.  would extra wide sneakers eliminate the problem?

check the toe box: Look for a shoe with a wide and deep toe box.  It's based on the shape of the shoe rather than buying a "wide" shoe.  When you buy a wide shoe the whole shoe width is increased - it may be too loose in the back then.  As for toe pads, avoid using them too because you have not increased the pressure at the site you want to relieve.  Consider toe sleeves instead which slip over the toe.

Podiatrist: Your best evaluation,treatment and follow-up would be from a podiatrist. You want to avoid aggravating the problem which can lead to more toe damage as well as gait problems. You will be given instructions on proper footwear.

i wear 1/2 (short) orthotics and have removed the liner of the shoes so one half of the shoe has orthotic and the other has a hard surface. is it ok? is it bad for knees, etc? should i use toe pads?

Who prescribed them: If you bought the half orthotics over the counter, you need to know why you bought them for. If  you have flat feet most often half orthotics they  should be fine and should not apply too much pressure to your fore foot. If you have pain in your fore foot then full length orthotics to off load the met head would serve you better . See a podiatrist to help you out with the correct orthotics.

pain in thigh when moving toes. pad and dvt ruled out. can non-traumatic compartment syndrome cause this?

: In traumatic or nontraumatic compartment syndrome, there will be more symptoms and signs in the thigh than just a simple thigh pain with moving the toes. If the thigh seems normal (no swelling, no skin change and no local tenderness), but there is pain with moving the toes, nerve pain (neuralgia) is suspected.

Sore toes: These symptoms could be a number of diagnosis.  If it has not resolved and you are still in pain, itchiness, etc I would recommend getting seen in person!

Numbness: Many different conditions can cause numbness throughout the body.  I would suggest being evaluated by your primary care physician to help determine the cause of the numbness.  Once the cause is found, treatment can begin.

i used dr. scholls otc corn remover pads on 5 of my toes. using the pads, the top of my toes have dark circles. how can i get the normal color back?

It's a burn : The dark spots are probably not from the corn pads. Usually it's from pressure of the shoe pushing on the bone. The corn pads have acid on them and only cause burns. They are useless.
