Ask his surgeon...: That would be a great question for his surgeon!  Although it should be fine sooner than later, depending on his exact situation, there may be certain positions they don't want him getting into.  Always best to ask the operating physician.  Good luck!

i broke my femur when i was 11. i had plate and screw put in my leg and it caused an infection causing my leg to break again. hardware was removed and i had a titanium rod put in my leg, i am now 20 and and i have pain almost every day is this normal?

: Consider having a full orthopedic re-evaluation with updated imaging.  Suspect you possess potential leg length asymmetry, which can lead to discomfort doing walking and other daily tasks.  A physiatrist might be useful to address rehabilitation approaches, and orthotic devices for your feet and legs might be helpful.  Physical therapy can guide toward beneficial exercises.  Very worthwhile.

how hard is it to get titanuim rod and screws out of femur? is there statistic on it it breaking the bone again on removal? had it 8 months

Fairly easy: The screws could strip but in general come out easily. The rod is then pulled out in general that too comes out easily. There is always a risk of fracturing the bone but in my experiencethe rods come out very smoothly

is it possible to just have a spinal for removal of a titanuim rod and screws in femur? having surgery to remove them soon and i rather be awake

Perhaps: It&#x27;s a possible option to discuss with your anesthesiologist. Not everyone  is a good candidate.  I had this done myself because I have so much trouble with post operative nausea.  I had the spinal and then had a light sedative so I could nap.  Operating rooms are noisy, chilly with a whole lot of stuff going on that I really didn&#x27;t need to hear.  It was a good option for me. Good luck.

Titanium: If you do not have an allergy to titanium then you really should not have a problem with the hardware as long as it was placed properly and your fracture has healed in good alignment.

had a cyst removed from my femur when 12 after a severe fracture and a titanium plate screwed into it. i am currently 33 and the left leg where the plate is located now causes me constant pain. is it even possible to remove the plate now?

Yes: Intramedullary rods and all other orthopedic hardware can get infected.
