Depends: If the destruction is due to decay it is called caries. If due to fracture of enamel, it is trauma.  There are also some enamel diseases which can destroy teeth.

It varies: A wisdom tooth is just another tooth erupting in your mouth. It could take weeks to months depending on the rate of eruption of the tooth. Some wisdom teeth never fully erupt and you may develop soft tissue problems. If the area becomes sore  rinse with salt water and see your dentist.

Late eruption: At your age this eruption pattern is later than normal. You should ask this question of a general dentist and an orthodontist who can personally examine you and along with x-rays and past history give you an answer to your question. They can also answer whether or not it&#x27;s just a wait and watch situation or they actively have to treat you at this time in order to facilitate the eruption.

See a dentist !: Gingival tissue that is separating from the tooth forming a pocket like that could be indicative of periodontal problems. The sooner you are examined and treated the sooner your problem will be arrested. You really can't do anything personally to correct periodontal defects.
