A few things: Burning pain under the big toe (hallux) can be due to a lot things- neuropathy (from medical problems like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, poor circulation), arthritis, osteoporosis, underlying bone deformity, callus, wart, foreign body or another injury.  A podiatrist can help with the diagnosis and offer treatment options.

"buring" usually: Describes a nerve-related problem, which may not even be in your foot. Compression or other issues with nerves in your back or leg can cause foot or toe burning. Certain systemic problems like diabetes or anemia can cause burning, usually in both feet (or toes). Start with your pcp who may refer you to a neurologist.

Burning pain : One of the causes for pain in the foot or specifically in 1 part of the foot can be a pinched nerve in the lumbar spine. If you have had difficulty with a disc that is herniated and pushing on the nerve root it can cause this type of sensation in your great toe. You Should follow up with your doctor to see if further imaging is needed.
