i have numbness on the left side of my body. i goes from my foot all the way up, including left side of back and abdominal area.  it's also in my arm pit area but not any higher then the brest area. nothing in my arm, but the tip of my thumb  is numb. i h

Depends.: If this just started in the last 24-72 hours, you should get seen at an ER today.  if it  has been going on longer than that, see a doc this week for appropriate exam and testing.  Hard to say what is going on without more history and an exam.  If this started within the last 1-3 hours call an ambulance or get taken to the ER right now!

wait and watch: If symptoms do not resolve in 1-2 weeks or at least start to improve , see a neurologist. Numbness may be from ct syndrome or injury to the nerve supply of thumb.

Trauma?: If there was no trauma to the thumb or any other joint on that extremity, the next condition to think about is ulnar nerve entrapment at the elbow. Would suggest a neurologist for possible nerve testing or an orthopedic for evaluation.

No: You may have a nerve laceration and should see a hand surgeon. If it needs repair it should be done soon.

Nerve: An irritable/mildly inflamed or pinched nerve or muscle is the likely cause if there is no associated discoloration,injury or swelling. See your physician if symptoms persist,worsen or if numbness,tingling appear in other parts of the body.

i have kinebock disease i had an operation 3 weeks ago but the tip of my thumb has just started to go numb is this to be expected?

Kienböck's disease: Tip of the thumb is innervated by the median & radial nerves; lunate bone (one involved in kienböck's is on the ulnar side of the wrist. If the scaphoid bone on the thumb side of the wrist were involved, the thumb might be affected. Best to ask the surgeon who performed the operation.

had a cyst removed from my thumb (knuckle area) 15 days ago and i'm still experiencing some numbness on the tip of my thumb. is this normal?

YES: this could be due to irritation of the digital nerve(s)

It may take some time (weeks) but it should resolve!

Yes--Stop PS3: You are suffering from a classic repetitive motion injury.  The only "cure" is to stop doing what is causing your problem until the symptoms resolve.  Then, you can resume, but at a lowered intensity.  Topical DMSO (available from a health food store or feed store may help).

i was doing overhead squats with a bar at crossfit and now my thumb is numb and isn't going away, is there something i can to to make it go away?

Nerve trauma: You have put too much pressure for too long on the nerve in your thumb. As this is an acute situation, resting the thumb and making sure there is no pressure on it over time may allow the nerve to recover. Nerves in your fingers are right under the skin and are easily traumatized. Your hands and fingers on them are not meant to bare the full weight of your body. When abused, the hands can rebel.

after xmas day i woke up and all of my fingers including my thumb is numb, my pinky finger is not. when i attempt to use them it burns. they've been like this almost 24 hours now. what's wrong with them?

Go to the ER: From your description you've had this problem since xmas or just for 24 hours. If its been just one day, get to the ER now, not tomorrow. At your age (101) you are at risk for nerve infarction and just have a couple of days to return circulation to the nerve or lose it. If it isn't an ischemic problem, they can set you up for EMG studies and referral to a hand surgeon. Dont wait and good luck.
