Likely not  Herpes: Do they have any fluid or pus in them? Bumps from Herpes as well as from local staph bacterial infection are likely be painful. To get these properly diagnosed, call your doctor for an exam or go to the nearby urgent care center.

my daughter (11) has small red bumps resembling pimples on her upper lip. she says theyre itchy. yesterday there was one - this morning 7. we are traveling in egypt, using spf50 sunscreen. air very dry. anything to worry about?

Lip bumps: May be herpetic or  perioral dermatitis.  For herpes use acyclovir and avoid sun as that exacerbates .  Do not touch herpetic lesions directly as they are contagious. Wash hands immediately and do not  rub eyes. Or may be perioral dermatitis  / impetigo that needs antibiotics either topical or oral - dry weather / sun can worsen it. DO NOT use hydrocortisone  f/u /w/ doc before trip.

i have itchy red bumps on lower lip that kinda burns in a way. they came from nowhere and i also had a huge bump on my upper lip a month ago that made it look swollen and included small painful bumps inside mouth. no insurance so can't see a doctor right

Herpes Labialis?: Your symptoms could be due to herpes labialis.  It is difficult to confirm without seeing the lesions and possibly obtaining a herpes culture.  Herpes labialis is caused by HSV type 1, and outbreaks are usually due to physical or emotional stress, or excessive sun UV exposure.  You can try Abreva, which is over the counter, but expensive.

Fordyce Spots ?: Fordyce spots are small raised, pale red, yellow-white or skin-colored bumps or spots that appear on the shaft of the penis, the labia, scrotum, or the vermilion border of the lips (the outside red part of the lip). These are benign (not associated with any disease or illness) and represent sebaceous glands. They are only a cosmetic concern. See a board certified dermatologist to have it checked.

Lip rash: Lips have small glands in them just like other parts of the skin that keep the skin soft. It's possible that whatever activity you engaged in may have irritated the skin and caused these symptoms. Other things to consider are any new exposures that could have irritated your skin such as a new lipstick or even latex exposure. Safe sex is very important and good to talk to your partner about it.

Call your dentist: There are many possible causes of small painful bumps.  It depends on how they started and how long they have been there and if you have swelling.  Over the counter pain medications can help relive you pain for now, but you should see your dentist and have this area checked.
