hi i have been seeing small black specks in my urine for about a week now, they come and go but it has been relatively consistent. i am wondering what that means. i dont see any foam or blood in my urine either so i just want to know what to expect?

: We can pass various types of sediments in our urine. Some sloughfed off cells in the urinary tract may be the cause. In my experience black specks have most often been fragments of stones in the upper or lower urinary tract.  Even though you have no symptoms, I recommend that you have a clean catch urinalysis,culture,colony count&amp; microscopic exam of sediment for complete evaluation of your urine.

Here are some...: One thing for sure is you, most likely, okay since you have been free of urinary / genital symptoms. Clinically, what you observed and described could represent the presence of amorphous crystals in alkaline urine which refects what you consumed or the possibility of contamination in urine collection. So, live on as the first choice or seek evaluation/counseling as suggested if insisting or obsess

my 29 month old boy ..after he urinates in bathroom i noticed that small black ants were surrounding the urine after sometime.no other signs and symptoms. is this normal?

Not to worry.: Small black ants may be attracted to urine simply because they are seeking food, or by the components found in urine, including urea, water, sugar, proteins, etc. In some diabetic persons, large amounts of sugar can be excreted in the urine and therefore attract more ants. If your child shows signs of constant thirst, fatigue, frequent urination and sometimes blurred vision, they need to see a Dr.

kidney stones: Possible kidney stones - drink plenty of water, take NSAID (motrin or aleve), see Dr or ER for severe pain.

Urine specs: you could be passing gravel.  Gravel are small stones usually formed from the precipitation of calcium in the urine.  If it persists you should have a kidney stone workup.  It is possible you could have larger kidney stones.  If you can catch some of these specs it would be helpful. These can be analyzed for calcium or uric acid and it  would help in the diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

i have kidney stones and noticed a tiny black speck in my urine several times. i drink lots of water should i be alarmed??

Save "speck": The black "specks" could be small blood clots or pieces of stone. It would help if you save one of these to have these tested.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i've noticed my 3 yr old daughter has a few tiny black hair like things in urine every time she goes potty. what could they be? should i be worried?

Couldn't say: I would need to examine the urine to comment. A 3 yo's pee is usually a vaginal washout as well as urine. It can pick up some extraneous debris.

Unlikelky concerns: Cancer of the bladder/urethra is not a consideration at this young age. Most such cancers develop in middle to older age groups. Just  quit worrying about such issues and do not look for any specks etc in the urine. Only if there is blood in the urine you have to get concerned about cancer like problems. So get your mind of this matter.
