Need an Evaluation: You may have arthritis, you may have carpal tunnel syndrome, anyway you need an evaluation to decide the cause. Until you see the rheumatologist you could get a wrist splint at the drugstore to help decrease in pain with motion and swelling

Carpal tunnel : syndrome, is a condition where the nerves in the arm/wrist area are crowded and compressed. The bones in arm/wrist area, radius and ulna, form a channel for the nerves and blood vessels. Inflammation  or edema can cause enough pressure to impede the function of the nerves. Medications, braces, and surgery are options. See you doctor to get an exam and treatment plan.

Wrist splint may help; ergonomic keyboard; ice, rest, nsaids; if no relief, see orthopedic specialist.

Treatment can range from splinting to injectons and even surgery.A very common disorder; many function well despite it.
