i removed a tick from my sons back but the head is still under the skin and i have tried and can not remove it. what should i do next?

i got seed ticks on my ankles about 3 weeks ago. i scratched them off and realized i may have left the heads in my skin? they still itch like crazy and look irritated despite me using multiple treatments methods like steroid and itch creams?

: Your assessment is probably correct. If part of insect still below the skin,will continue to give  symptoms.  See your doctor or dermatologist for proper treatment.

my son has a pin head sized raised red dot on his scrotum.  he is 3 months old.  it is not a tick.  what is it? i think it has always been there. it was a little flatter before.  still very small though, like a red poppy seed.  it seems to be a blood blis

It's : It's difficult to be able to say exactly what it is without seeing it, but from your description, it may be a hemangioma or strawberry spot.  Hemangiomas are a collection of blood vessels under the skin - common and typically harmless in infants.  They tend to appear around 2 months of age and are bright red.  They increase in size until about 1 year to 18 months and then they start to disappear and are usually gone by 2-3 years of age.  The only time they are a concern is if they are over an eye (because they can affect vision) or when a child has 5 or more (if they have that many, they may have them internally also).  Show the spot to your child's doctor at his next appointment to be sure that it is in fact a hemangioma.

See Dr.: The piece of the tic still under the skin is a foreign body to your skin and the itching is the body recognizing that.  See the dr. who can steriley remove the tic remnants and cure your woes.  Good luck.

Embedded tick: Ticks are tricky to remove. You should have taken her to the doctor for a safe and complete extraction but since you tried to remove it and have a remnant left in the skin, you should take her to the doctor and have it removed by him/her. It is much safer that way.

i have a tick bite 6 months old, it still goes through periods of intense itchiness. it developed scar tissue under my skin. cause for concern?

See below: If you we're treated appropriately for a suspected tick- borne illness, then the tick illness should be gone, but, you may have developed an are of hypersensitivity at the bite and the more you scratch, the worse it may become.  The skin may be becoming lichenified or simply scarred as you you described.  See you doctor for an evaluation as "rashes" are very difficult to diagnose without viewing.

See below: The rec way is as follows:  if available, use tweezers and grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible (if none, use a cloth or paper to protect your fingers).  Pull straight up gently, steady pressure. Don't twist or jerk.  Don't squeeze, crush or puncture the tick.  Disinfect the skin afterward and wash hands.  If any mouthparts remain, leave alone as they will be expelled spontaneously.

Tick removal: You should use a pair tweezers and grab the tick as clsoe to the skin a spossibel and gently pull it out straigh up and do nto twist or jiggle the tweezers in any other direction. Clean the area after tick is removed with antiseptic solution. If you have difficulty youu should see your peiatrician.

Head of a tick.: A tick's head may be left embedded in the skin when one attempts to remove a tick. Use  sterilized  fine point tweezers  to fish the tick's mouthparts or head away from your skin.  Do not squeeze or stab the head.  Remove, wash hands as well as site of tick removal.

Tick's Head in Skin: Use the sterilized tip of the needle to carefully fish the tick head away from your skin. Insert the needle into the first or second layers of your skin just beside the tick's head, no through the head. Think of it as removing a splinter, and try to get the needle "hooked" under the head or mouth parts to pull them out. If that does not work visit you local dermatologist to have the head removed.
