You should probably have imaging to determine if you have swollen glands or a mass in your throat or chest.  A CT scan of your neck and chest would be a way to start.

i am experiencing  thyroid enlargement. the following also describe me: neck lump or bulge, hoarse voice, and cough. what should i do? t4 results 4.32 and tsh 0.006.

Inconsistency: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your T4 and TSH results do not comport with each other. You should discuss it with the doctor who ordered the tests or see and endocrinologist.

if a person had their thyroid burnt out at least 30 years ago because of a goiter,  wouldn't it be obilterated? what if the person had a u/s done and it showed throid tissue that was abnormal? what would the indications be?

Might be normal: Frequently when surgery is done for goiter not all of the thyroid is removed, especially 30 years ago.  So seeing thyroid tissue on u/s may be no big deal.  History of thyroid cancer is a different story.  If tissue looks abnormal u/s guided needle biopsy may be best way to know if there is a problem.

are thyroid nodules same as goiter?

Not exactly: Thyroid nodules are specific growths coming out of the thyroid gland. A goiter refers to diffuse enlargement of the entire thyroid gland. Nodules and goiters look different on thyroid imaging and usually indicate different problems.

However, one could also have a multinodular goiter, in which the thyroid gland has many nodules that cause the entire gland to be enlarged.

No effect of diet: Unfortunately, it is an autoimmune disease, controlled by antibodies to the thyroid, and diet will not help.   If you are hypothyroid, you may benefit from levothyroxine.  But it is hard to get that inflamed thyroid to shrink.

Thyroid: Thyroid nodules are projections from the gland can be 'hot' or 'cold' meaning they may or may not function and produce hormone. These need follow up. Goiter is when the gland is enlarged and this can occur from iodine deficiency and other entities.

Goiter: You may need to have this checked again soon by your doctor. You probably should have blood test, including a TSH, Free T4, and Free T3, (liothyronine) as well as have your doctor order another ultrasound of your thyroid, to see if the nodules are bigger or mores suspicious, or to see if you now have nodules on the left side as well.

Goiter: Goiter or thyroid nodules are either toxic or non toxic. This means that they either produce too much hormones or not.  Very rare theyre from underactive thyroid.  Your thyroid hormone can be normal with replacement, they just need to be adjusted and taken properly( empty stomach and without other meds).

i have a 2cm complex cyctic multinodule goiter on my right thyroid and a 4 cm one on my left side no calcifications what are the chances its cancer ?

Cancer risk: Each nodule has a 5% chance of cancer.  Your nodules are large and should be evaluated (biopsy).  Keep in mind that the bigger the nodule, the higher the risk that the biopsy will come back negative (benign) although the cancer is still there (false negative).  You are very young and if the nodules are causing some compressive symptoms now, surgery might be a good option for you.
