my bf has herpes stomatitis & thrush. how to help cure this?

Get a diagnosis: The herpes stomatitis goes away after approximately 14 days.  The thrush needs to be treated with an anti-fungal medication.  Has this been diagnosed by a dentist/physician?  If not, please see one for diagnosis, then appropriate treatment can be prescribed.

Herpes: It sounds to me by your description that you may have herpes simplex virus. This starts as  vesicles(small blisters) in clusters and they can be very painful. You can get treatment to speed up  resolution of symptoms.

can herpes cause balanitis for over 3 weeks? i tested negative for all stds and wa s just wondering. maybe i have a yeast infection from my girlfriend b/c she had thrush with no pain. i've noticed that i had a redness around forskin like ring shaped

Not herpes: No herpes outbreak is likely to last 3 weeks, it's an uncommon cause of balanitis. If herpes were the cause, it would be in the form of open sores, generally very painful. Yeast indeed can cause balanitis. Maybe share your gf's anti-yeast cream (or buy clotrimazole cream over the counter). Also retract foreskin and wash w/ soap and water 2-3 times a day. See a doctor if these don't help.

what is the difference between oral thrush & oral herpes? waiting for std test results. will dr be able to tell if it is oral thrush if not herpes?

Bug type different : Oral thrush is caused by a fungal overgrowth while herpes is caused by a virus.  Site of lesions also help visually to distinguish, but a biopsy is needed to confirm.

can i use canesten cream when i have genital herpes? (i also have thrush as well and have been using the cream not knowing if it makes the herpes worse or not?

: In general, it's best to keep herpes lesions dry to speed healing, but it probably doesn't make much difference. Stop the Canesten if your herpes seems to be healing more slowly than normal.  won't have any effect on the herpes. Or ask your doctor for a prescription for fluconazole (Diflucan), a single pill by mouth that is equally effective against yeast as the vaginal treatments.

Herpes simplex: Without an exam impossible to know, but yeast infection usually accompanied by discharge and/or a rash, whereas herpes can sometimes present with itching which is a subliminal form of pain.

See below: The possible reasons: decreased immune response, long term use of antibiotics or steroids and as a result of it - decrease/lack of normal vaginal flora.

Mycelex (clotrimazole) Troches: Just ask your doctor/dentist for these, dissolve in mouth 5x day for 2 weeks.  Should resolve the candidiasis (thrush).

Anyone can: Thrush is present in young babies to the very oldest adults.  This is a yeast infection of the lining of the oral cavity.  It can happen for no apparent reason or be brought on by medications/drugs, illness and those with poor immunity.  Antibiotics often precipitate this as do certain cancers and medications. Usually treated with oral troches, liquids, or orally swallowed pills and some topicals.

Thrush: Anti fungals ( Nystatin oral suspension and diflucan) are helpful! throw away all toothbrushes ( or in case of a baby --- all bottle nipples and pacifiers); as chances of re-infection are high if continue to use these!
