Rheumatic Fever: The reason why we test and treat strep throat is because a certain percentage can lead to rheumatic fever, an inflammatory disease that can affect the skin, brain, joints, and most importantly the heart. This dammage to the heart leads to congestive heart failure and early death. It was a major problem before the widespread use of penicillin in 60's.

You should be evaluated by a ENT physician

Throat swollen: Based on what you have provided, it's impossible to tell.  The throat is quite complex and there are glands, muscles, lymph nodes that all could be affected.  There are even very large blood vessels and some nerves that could be contributing to what you are describing.  Because of the concern for breathing and swallowing when it comes to problems with the throat, you should have an evaluation soon.

You must have a roug: You must have a rough surface on your filings or broken tooth  and  producing a traumatic lesion on the side of the tongue make an appointment wit your dentist and let him or her check .Dx rinses with warm water and salt and smooth surface or replace filing

Doctor should check: Viruses aren't stopped with the usual antibiotics. Mono is from the EBV virus, and can cause swollen glands (lymph nodes) and big tonsils. Strep throat can do the same thing, but strep throat needs antibiotics. If on an effective antibiotic, strep throat clears up quickly.  Sometimes there is an abscess in a tonsil or the back of the throat. This all means that a trip to the doctor would be wise.
