DVT and PE: A thrombus is a blood clot that is attached to a vein and does not move.  An embolus is a blood clot that has broken free and moves through the veins in your body.

Pulmonary embolism: Bones themselves do not cause a thrombus or embolus.  When doctors treat bones with casts or surgery it slows the blood flow in the veins around those bones.  The slowing of the blood flow is what causes the thrombus and the embolus.

Lack of blood flow: A ventilation perfusion scan is a test for a blood clot in the lungs, or pulmonary embolism. If there is a blood clot, an area of the lung will not be perfused, but will be ventilated, and therefore a mismatch will be seen.

Unlikely a : "deep" blood clot since blood thinners , especially the newer ones, are quite effective in preventing seep vein thrombosis (clots) which then could travel to the lungs. Rather I  suspect acute superficial phlebitis. Inform your treating consultant ASAP  since bacterial issues may be an issue here. In the meantime..APPLY HOT packs and elevate the leg.

Blood thinners.: Cause can be from medications(birthcontrol), inactivity or genetic predispositions. Many causes and need to review with her doctor.Treatment depends on severity. If compromised blood pressure possible clot breaker. Rarely used anymore unless unstable pt. Typically blood thinners to prevent clot from getting bigger. Oral and injectable available.
Not sure about collapsed lung?Could have many meaning.

i have had a pulmomary embolism om 2 different occasions and am now taking eliquis 5 mg bid for several years. today i am experiencing chest pain, which is the only symptom i had both times i was diagnosed with a blood clot. should i go to the er?
