Doctor can check: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol or Motrin can temporarily lessen pain.

hi, i have been to a doctor 2 days and the dr said i might have a throat infection. i got andolex-c spray, betaclav 1000 and florawin prescribed to me. i have been taking the medication but not getting any better, what should i do? can't swallow.

Doctor can examine: If one has a tonsil infection, and it is a bacterial infection like strep throat, she will have taken antibiotics. If she is worse, such as having more pain, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, or too much cough, then it is hard to tell what is going on without another exam. That means seeing the doctor again. Bad things like a big tonsillar abscess or a neck abscess can happen.

im tonsils hurt so much i can barely swallow anything. i have some pain medication and throat spray to treat them but theyre still very painful. do i need to see the doctor?

fluticasone nasal spray has mentioned dosage of 2 puffs in each nostril. some of the liquid always goes in my throat or drips and falls out of the nose . is it safe if i do 3-4 sprays per nostril to compensate for this loss of medication?

Probably no "loss" is occurring and the standard dose probably will still be effective, i.e. plenty of the product remains where it needs to be and additional sprays probably would be an overdose. If uncertain, and especially if you're treating yourself, make an appointment with an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist) for personalized evaluation and advice. Good luck.

: If it is a throat spray, it is meant to be sprayed in the throat and a small amount is expected to be swallowed after the throat is sprayed. If you develop any stomach pain, nausea or vomiting, then see a doctor but this is unlikely to happen. Good luck to you!

No.: Not recommended, but a small swallow won't hurt you.

Short term remedy: You should not be using throat spray on a regular basis. If you are using it because you have chronic sore throat you should get it looked at. If all you need is moisture then you can use saline or artificial saliva
