Pharyngitis: This may be Strep throat, viral infection, conceivably due to your GERD, or of other causes. If acute you should be tested for Strep and treated if positive or if the physical findings are highly suspicious.  Cannot possibly diagnose this over the internet.

Acid reflux: This is likely related to acid reflux. You may want to try some Zantac (ranitidine) or Prilosec at night before you go to bed. You may want your local ENT to look down your throat with a camera as well.

If not allergic....: I suggest trying Aleve (naproxen) OR Advil for relief of pain. Additionally, zinc lozenges ( Cold-Eze ) and dark brown honey along with warm water gargles and 8-10 glasses of fluid daily.

is it normal for strep throat pain to spread to neck and head. i am on cephalexin for three days but this pain has not still gone away. ?

Check dosage/diagnos: You may be getting suboptimal dose of cephalexin or you may have another problem, as infectious mononucleosis, a viral pharyngitis, can co-exist. Yes pharyngitis pain can spread, but usually abates with the start of treatment after one or two days, goodluck

After : After a throat infection, some patients get enlargement of their lymph nodes, causing a sore neck (lymphadenopathy).  Advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) and plenty of fluids, and possibly a warm pack, often help.  If a patient had headache, fever, feels sick,  or has a rash then they should have a medical evaluation, but otherwise the lymphadenopathy usually subsides on its own.
