Mgt.: For post nasal drip, nasal saline and gentle suction is effective.  He may need Tamiflu, and if he has a fever, I would recommend a visit with his PCP. Keep him well hydrated, rested and  check his temperature.

Simple treatments: Not really sure that a "throat infection " is nothing more than a sore throat. Try simple treatments, increase fluids, tylenol or aspirin and gargle during the day. Most times these simple treatments seem to help. If it goes into your chest, then get medical care.

Some common ones...: Typical symptoms:  sore throat, fever of greater than 38 °c (100 °f), tonsillar exudates (pus on the tonsils), and large cervical lymph nodes.
Other symptoms: headache, n/v, abdominal pain, muscle pain, or a scarlatiniform rash or palatal petechiae (small bleeding), the latter being an uncommon but highly specific finding. Consult doc if you have these symptoms..Good luck.

Don't panic: First, if the thermometer is not broken then any potential mercury is trapped inside and can not harm you. Second, it the thermometer did break and it did have mercury inside your individual exposure would be very, very low not enough to be a problem with just one exposure. If you are really concerned bout future use, buy a new digital thermometer.

One can acquire strep or other throat infections while they have this.Since their symptoms overlap, only proper testing can sort out what is what.

Call your doctor: Yeast infections can occur after you are on antibiotics, depends on where the yeast is as to how to treat.  Call your doctor for the right treatment for your case.

Define immediately: Tissue takes time to react to invasion by germs. However, the brain reacts at any point to a perceived issue rather real or not. When you post on this site you should detail such things as immediate, whether you mean minutes/hours/days. If you mean minutes, the only medical response that quick would suggest an allergic reaction to something. If not, the brain is playing tricks.

Splenomegaly: An enlarged spleen usually is a reflection of some underlying disease process, and there are many possibilities. There are not many symptoms directly attributable to an enlarged spleen other than right upper quadrant pain and tenderness w possible radiation to the shoulder, sometime hiccoughs, anemia, fatigue, frequent infections and easy bleeding.
