Less likely: More likely a throat infection, and less your thyroid.  If it gets better and you do not see or feel a bulge in your neck/thyroid, it was probably an infection.  If it persisits, you could always be checked by a dr. And a simple thyroid test would let you know.

Remedies: If you have a significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Saltwater gargles are helpful. Mix a tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amount of lemon juice is good. Pour boiling water over &gt;.

i have had a severe throat pain the past 2 weeks and the pain won't go away. how do i get the pain to go away? i have tried all the home remedies and nothing is working. i have noticed that my throat seems swollen and it is hard to swallow anything.

Since : Since you are having throat pain for two weeks you need to see a doctor.  Things you can try for pain include advil (ibuprofen), tylenol (acetaminophen), and topical throat sprays that you can buy at the market.  Be sure you aren't allergic to any of these first.  Since you are having swelling and difficulty swallowing though you need to be seen as you may need antibiotics.  If you have increased pain, fever, vomiting, rash, or can't swallow fluid or secretions then you would need to go to the er.

No need for fever: you can have a sore throat due to infection without having fever, use salt water gargles to reduce soreness and swelling, see your doctor if you don't improve, as you might need prescription medications

Usually, if the throat symptoms are mild, people try over-the-counter treatments such as Tylenol, Motrin, or throat lozenges, for 1-3 days. COVID-19 infections tend to have cough, whereas strep usually lacks cough but has more throat pain.
