i have a cold and have so much flem in my throat that it feels like someone us choking me. how do i get rid of that?

Depends: If you have post nasal drip and that is causing you to bring up phlegm then you need to try otc remedies( mucomyst etc, nose spray and allergy meds to name a few) to help with sinus congestion and if they dont work need to see your physician and may need prescription medicines. If you have acute bronchitis and dont think post nasal drip is a problem then definitely see ur physician.

See a doctor: Unclear by history, but depending on where the lump is, it may be an enlarged thyroid (if at bottom of neck). Could be any number of things, possibly concerning in light of size of mass and firmness, especially if you smoke. If your neck was fused, a pressure sensation in the throat is very common, and you could have some fibrosis / scarring (small price to pay for healthier spine).

Sleep study: See your doc and tell them this. You need a sleep study. You may have sleep apnea. Other sleep disorders can cause this as well.

Several: Throat closure can be caused by many things but in the absence of tongue or observed throat swelling, vocal cord dysfunction would be my 1st guess.  In this condition, the person suddenly has problem when breathing in.  There is another condition known as hereditary angioedema which is associated with throat swelling and closure and can be potentially deadly.  Consult an ENT or allergist.

it is likely you are developing a bacterial or viral infection that might have triggered a chocking episode to start with, depending on what you consider a chocking episode if it was a blockage of airway from some food, and it was expelled after a strong cough spell, it is possible that there was some trauma to the lining of the pharynx, causing the scratchy throat. See your doctor.
