Before jumping to : Medication would encourage a medical evaluation ; possibly a psychological evaluation to get a good handle on what is occurring. Once it is better understood then a treatment plan can be developed.

Stay in present: Staying in the present as much as possible can help to avoid over-thinking -- but some thinking can be a good (not bad) thing.  Ruminating about the past and worrying about the future generally increases feelings of stress, when it's only in the present moment that we can make a difference in whatever is actually happening.  Mindfulness, breathing exercises, & yoga, can all help train your mind.

Some people's minds won't shut off at the end of the day -- they're still worrying about accomplishing tasks or making sure they don't forget something important. Get checked.
