thin uterus lining. is there anything i can do about this?

Normal: This is typical, especially if you are on the birth control pill. Some women have a thin lining every month and have very light periods. Other women develop a very thick lining every month and have heavier periods. Both are normal.

Close monitoring: I assume you are talking about having a short cervix. There is no way to predict how long but close monitoring by your doctor is needed to detect subtle changes.

Impossible to tell: That's an impossible question to answer. Unless a woman has had previous uterine surgery, or has a congenital abnormality of the uterus, there's no such thing as a 'thin' uterus.  The cervix can be shortened, maybe that's what you are referring to?  If so, then some women with shortened cervix go all the way to term. If threatened preterm labor, make sure you've had a course of steroids for baby.

Progesterone: Progesterone is commonly used to induce a period and thin the lining of the uterus. This is what is in the type of IUD that is likely being advised, but this can be taken orally as well.

Thinned Uterus: It sounds like your uterus is not tolerant of stretching to full term as it is. And if your doctor has been able to see first-hand that your uterus is thinned out, you have a distinct advantage in knowing the possibility of rupture does exist. Many women do not have this warning and have lost, not only their babies, but their lives. You need to be followed very closely by you doctor.

Not always: Any birth control pill can act differently with a variety of patients so the answer is, not always.

i took norethindrone for 10 day for uterus thickening.on the 3 day after stopping i had mense does this mean it work to thin the uterus? i have had heavy flow , blood clots and horrible cramp is this normal?

Yes: Progestin withdrawal (when stopping norethindrone) leads to shedding of the lining of the uterus. If the lining is thickened, the bleeding will be heavier and cramping may be worse than normal.

Uterine rupture.: A thinned (presumably from a prior cesarean section scar) lower uterus can lead to rupture that can prove catastrophic or even lethal for fetus and/or mother. Consult with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist if that is your diagnosis and avoid labor if clinically possible/desirable.

what are the risk if you get pregnant a year and a half after a c-section and was told you have a thin lower segment uterus?

Accepted Answer

: If the "thin lower segment" of the uterus was noted at the time of your c-section, it probably reflects the state of the uterine wall caused by the pregnancy.  This will be monitored if you are pregnant again, and a planned c-section at near term should avoid any consequences.
