i have had symptoms of cvs and it turns out i have a tear in the stomach. is it possible that i have cvs and that caused a tear in the stomach lining?

Cyclical Vomiting : Cvs causes periodic cycles of vomiting with normal periods in between. It is quite possible that during periods of vomiting that you may cause a tear which is most likely to occur at the bottom of the esophagus where it meets the stomach called a mallory-weiss tear.

Discomfort : GERD symptoms are typical heartburn and regurgitation. These are often worse with stress, certain types of good and drink, and Lyon g down or leaning forward. Stomach lining inflammation, or gastritis,  can cause pain just below the lower end of the breast bone. Primary care or GI usually treat milder forms of these. Hope this helps!

Stomach ache: Stomach ache, indigestion.  Trial of zantac over the counter, if ineffective, can trial peptobismol, if not, then proton pump inhibitors, if refractory can try carafate (sucralfate) slurry.

recently had endoscopy for complaints of early satiety as the only symptom. took ppis for a month prior, nothing found. afraid ppi masked early malignancy.would biopsy samples of stomach lining be sufficient for detection of early stomach malignancy?

: PPI’ s would not mask early malignancy and biopsy samples may or may not be sufficient for diagnosis. Stomach malignancy would be among the least likely diagnoses otherwise. Your health related anxiety appears exacerbated and should be discussed with your treating doc.

No: Hydrocodone has tylenol (acetaminophen) this does not affect stomach lining but it is harmful to liver if you have liver issues.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Yes. But a free perforation may make one very sick before it has time to heal. An ulcer can heal itself but usually acid suppression is needed along with treatment of hpylori if present an avoidance of nsaids.

Accepted Answer

Usually not.: A perforation of the stomach is usually a surgical emergency. If not repaired quickly, patients can often get extremely sick from peritonitis. It is usually not safe to observe someone without surgery in that setting. Hope that helps.

Accepted Answer

Possibly: But have to give meds/treatment adequate time before repeat study (say 6-12 months). May be done sooner if condition not improving or worsens. Insurance provider may also place limits on when/if repeat study is done. Discuss with treating doc. May prefer recheck with endoscopy.

Stomach: Great question!  by ugd, i'm wondering if you had an upper GI barium swallow or upper GI endoscopy?  If your symptoms are not resolving, further testing may be needed in the near future.  If your symptoms have resolved, your doctor may periodically want to monitor you depending on the outcome of your initial test.  When all else fails, make an appointment and ask your doc.  They will know.

GI Upset: It may cause GI upset but not necessarily due to intestinal lining irritation.  Hope this helps.
