i have lump on my neck and shoulder and the shoulder lump in kinda hurting know and i had the neck lump for about a month. what can it possibly be?

C MD ASAP: Can't tell here. Could be benign, e.g. Lipoma (fatty tumor), sebaceous cyst of skin), or could be cancerous lymph node, lymphoma, abscess, etc. See md asap for diagnosis and rx.

my daughter is experiencing  neck lump the size of half a ping pong ball after hurting it at gymnastics 3 days ago, but the lump has come up today. she is complaining of pain behind her ear too but no lump and has had a temperature. it hurts to touch?

Medical attention : Possible lymphadenitis due to bacteria infection 
Need to see your doctor 
Have the doctor do a strep test also, sometimes strep throat can cause this problem. 
There are other causes for lymph nodes enlargement
If antibiotics doesn't resolve it then you child need further work up like CBC with manual differential, CMP, LDH.
If there are cat at home get cat scratch disease titer- Bartonella titer

Always a lump: The lymph nodes in the neck as in other areas like arm pit and groin serve to protect the patient immunologically from infection.  Tumors in the region  of these nodes spread to the nodes and cause them to enlarge and become firm.  Infections that induce somewhat larger than normal lymph glands do not develop the firmness.  If tumor arises denovo in the nodes think of lymphoma.

It depends: A trigger point is the presence of tiny knots along a muscle fiber and when pressed may causes severe pain (jump sign). If you are saying a non painful lump on your neck and there is no limitation on your range of motion. It is unlikely to be a trigger point. Have it checked by your doctor.

YES: Certainly muscle cramps and spasms can feel like a lump; however, so can other conditions. Try SAdvil or Aleve (naproxen) for pain ( if not allergic) and BioFreeze linament  for the muscle area.

Causation: Key is having doctor examine area.  Maybe solely a superficial benign cyst that can be readily fixed but best to have it looked at

Likely lymph node: Most likely a lymph node, which is enlarged because of the cold (viral infection). If it persists more than a few weeks, new areas appear, or it enlarges  get it checked out by a doctor. There are more serious diseases which can cause lymph node enlargement.

Many choices: It could be an abscessed tooth or an impacted wisdom tooth.  Advise you to start with a dental visit for diagnosis and treatment.

The most common: cause of a neck lump is an enlarged lymph node. Or, in the location you describe, an enlarged or swollen salivary gland. But the fact that it seems to be associated with pain in certain positions makes me wonder if you could just have a muscle strain with some associated inflammation and swelling. I think you can watch this for a few days, but if it persists &gt;1 week, see your Doctor for evaluation
