Get eval: For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.  Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amt of lemon juice helps.

Shingles?: You may have herpez zoster ophthalmicus and you should see an ophthalmogist as soon as possible.
Antivirals may be needed, however, a seasoned ophthalmologist should be able to diagnose condition.

Try heat and Tylenol (acetaminophen): You can try applying heat or take a hot shower while taking some tylenol (acetaminophen) as well as ibuprophen or Naproxen as well as long as you have no Aspirin allergy or stomach problems &  are not on any blood thinners.  Some rest & activity restriction may help as does just time as most musculoskeletal problems get better.  A soft cervical collar may also be of some temporary benefit.  See your doctor if not.

Many Possibilities: Depending on how long it's been going on, i would consider an evaluation by a spine specialist.  Sometimes it could be a muscle imbalance, early onset arthritis or scoliosis.  Also could be a pinched nerve/herniated disc.  Either way it might be good to figure it out and get appropriate treatment.

Muscle spasm : Probably slept wrong if is acute, and rest and heat should relax the muscle spasm.  You did not mention any neck injuries.  If is chronic (over 2-3 months)  then you need to see osteopath or physiatrist to be properly diagnosed.  The treatment will depend on which tissue, bone, joint, ligament, tendon, or muscle is involved, and this requires an hands-on evaluation.

Get checked: Many possibilities - could be tonsil infection, cervical adenitis (neck gland infection), or referred pain from an ear problem or issue in the salivary glands.  May also be a muscular or nerve problem in the neck itself.  Plus many others.  Needs doctor examination to sort out the possibilities and this should be done urgently if fevers, limb weakness or breathing or swallowing problems.

: Interestingly, the best reliefs is to put your hand on the left side of your head and press as hard as you can on the head while your head tries to resist the movement.  You can do it over and over again if needed. What this does is contract the muscle that is tight and irritated and muscles after they contract like to relax, so it relaxes after and feels better. When it tightens again, repeat.

Ear infection?: You could have eustachian tube dysfunction or an ear infection. Try gargles with salt warm water and otc pain killer for relief. See you physician for exam and more definitive diagnosis.
