Neuritis: It take up to 1 year to improve if it does, it might get wose and then it turn to crps. Physical therapy might help.

Burning foot: While the best way to be sure is through an in-person examination it sounds like you have a nerve injury around the ankle. The nerve that controls sensation around the foot pass through the ankle and could have been injured when you sprain it.

i have had a constant burning sensation on the outside bottom part of my left foot - from the heel up to the middle of my foot. ive had it for about a year but it used to go away - for the last 5-6 months im aware of it almost 24/7. ?

Heel Pain: Burning heel pain is commonly caused by inflammation of the fibrous tissue called the plantar fascia. This condition is called plantar fasciitis. Rest and anti-inflammatory medications can help relieve pain. Physical therapy can provide exercises to help stretch the plantar fascia and reduce workload on the ligament.

There : There are several different possibilities for this:
1.  If you are having pain when you walk, it could be a morton's neuroma (this is a benign-noncancerous condition).  It is basically a nerve ending that gets too big.  It does not hurt if you push on it and is treated with steroid injection.
2.  If it hurts when you walk, it could be plantar fasciitis also.  This is usually more of the whole bottom of the foot that hurts.
3.  It could be a neurologic issue; your nerves are sending messages for some reason that are abnormal.  
You should have a medical evaluation by a family practitioner or internist to get their opinion.

Varies: Multiple potential causes.  Can be from from disorders in foot itself such as tarsal tunnel syndrome, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, pesplanovalgus deformity.  Can be from other conditions such as a pinched nerve in the back.  Don’t hesitate to be seen for a specific diagnosis.

Read below: The burning pain is usually caused by some type of nerve irritation or damage.  This could also be caused by poor circulation or excessive swelling to the foot.  It is time to consult your podiatrist for a mor definitive diagnosis.
