since my hysterectomy(have ovaries) i have a problem with thrush. have had meds from dr, reduced sugar, added probiotics but nothing helps! any tips?

"Thrush"/treatment?: There are several effective remedies for "thrush" ( "yeast" or fungal ) infections.  There are varieties of this kind of fungus which may not respond to standard treatment. Reduced sugar and probiotics will not affect these infections. Not all symptoms are caused by yeast organisms, so go again to your gyn physician for a culture to be sure of that which is being treated.

Acne: Try a low sodium diet since acne bacteria thrive on sodium.  Also make sure you keep your hands away from your face and wip eoff your cellphone to avoid spreading germs onto your face. Avoid alcohol on your face, use a cleanser, toner and moisturizer (noncomedogenic) with spf at least 30 daily.

Probably Greek: Dannon -- the company that makes activia -- was charged with false advertising on its claims of medical benefit from eating it. Probably the greek yogurts like oikos or fage would contain more of what you&#x27;re looking for. http://tinyurl.com/meqe55m  still, there may be far less probiotic colonies in any yogurt you buy than in specific preparations made for this purpose.

Enzymes: If you eat the average yogurt that you buy at the grocery store - the cultures are already dead.  There are special yogurst that have more rhobust priobiotics. There are many, many different types of enzymes that aid our body.

Look for a brand: that has a variety of strains of probiotics in it, not just one or two.  The amount of each one is less important.  Use refrigerated probiotics if possible, and you can use the room temp. ones at work or traveling.  Peace and good health.

how safe are probiotics vs yogurt?

Yogurt tastes better: These contain the "good organisms" living symbiotically with you. Certain condition such as use of antibiotics often kill-off too many of these good bugs and leave us more susceptible to illness from other bad bugs. Probiotics basically replace some of the loss of the good bug and hopefully restore the balance. Both are safe, but yogurts taste better? And contain calciums/vitamins. Good luck.
