i had an endometriosis laparoscopy in august bcz  of period pains but i still get very painful unbearable period pains, are they not supposed to stop?

Accepted Answer

Depends on Rx.: It depends on whether or not the Endometriosis was treated with cautery/laser/resection at the time of the Laparoscopy or not. If not, then pain may continue especially if the disease was not totally eradicated. There are also medication follow Rx.'s for Endometriosis. Ask your GYN MD about the surgery results &amp;  possible medications.

i found out i have endometriosis 3 months ago, i was put on visanne, my period stopped for 2 months then came back for a day went away and then back again, i get random bursts of severe period pains that dont go away and last up to two weeks?

If pain is : not better on birth control  pills, and also  if using ibuprofen as well. Then the next step is a medication that suppresses or blocks gonadotropin releasing hormone (GNRH). This would suppress estrogen production and cause regression of the endometriosis implants and decrease pain.

i've get severe 10/10 period  pains for the past couple of months prescribed codeine and mefenemic acid dont work. i recently found out my uterus is retroverted on an mri. possible endometriosis?

Possible: The only way to make a definitive diagnosis would be with a laparoscopy. There are some medicines that in essence put you in temporary menopause and could help if the pain is due to menopause. Hope this helps.

Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a bening disease defined by the presence of endometrial glands ( lining of inside the uterus) outside the uterus and its associated with pelvic pain and infertility. The disease tends to progress and recurrs. Endometriosis usually does not cause abnormal uterine bleeding or short periods.

No: your frequent periods are coming from ovarian failure and onset of menopause. Very common. Some women cycles space further apart, others it can become more frequent early on. Endometriosis/Crohns: Endometriosis (endo) and crohn's disease seem to be related in that women with endo have a higher incidence of crohn's.  Endo implants on your intestines can mimic crohn's symptoms- is this a flare caused by endo?  Probably sometimes yes, sometimes no.  Clearly if one has both, it's important to treat both as they seem to feed the painful symptoms of one another.

Accepted Answer

Not Endometriosis: Unless you are taking hormonal medicine for endometriosis, the endometriosis would not cause lack of periods. By definition, unless proven otherwise, you are now in menopause.

should women w/endometriosis avoid lymphatic massage? i had it a few times, 2x during period, then read it cld cause to spread. symptoms progresvly worse.

Spread: I have not heard this nor if i read it. I think if it helps you and make you feel better then you should continue doing it. If it makes it worse than stop. I cannot believe there's evidence either way.
