i need a better way to manage my hypoglycemia should i purchase a blood glusose meter. i have talked with my doctor and have changed my diet ?

Depends: Sometimes hypoglycemia can be reactive. Consider cutting back on sugar and flour products, pour 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 tbsp coconut oil on over your food each meal, cook with coconut oil. Eat 3-4 oz of meat with each meal. Limit carbs. See if this helps.

ok so i am going to hold out on phentermine and stick w/ current diet and exercise routine i have going . i am between pcp's at the the moment and desperately need a new glucose meter and strips .. i don't know if you would be able to help me with that??

Can buy meter/strips: You can buy a meter and strips without a prescription. If you need a prescription for your insurance to pay for it then you can do a consult with a physician from your state on HealthTap and they should be able to send that in for you.

May need more: The recommended daily allowance of magnesium for an 18-19 year-old male is about 400 mg per day. About 30-40% of dietary magnesium intake is absorbed by the body. Most of the magnesium in your body is locked up in the bones or intracellular. If you want to add magnesium to your diet, you can increase your intake of green-leafy vegetables, nuts, grains, fortified cereal, or legumes.

Depends: A healthy weight loss would be an average of one to two pounds a week. Some people lose alot more in the beginning.

Veggies!: One can make meals out of veggies. Some veggies can be raw, others can be cooked . . . Lots of variety! grains are usually counted as veggies, so rice, corn, etc..., are allowed. Beans have protein (fruits don't really have protein). If one stretches the definition of veggies, he can even include the "fruit veggies" such as tomatoes and cucumbers (things that have seeds are officially fruits).

Elevated liver tests: Usually, when we see an otherwise healthy person with elevated liver tests, we want to make sure nothing more serious is going on, other than having a "fatty liver".  We would have them abstain from alcohol, recheck labs in about 2-3 months, including hepatitis labs and some others.  I wouldn't attribute abnormal liver tests solely to poor diet and weight before a more thorough workup is done.

Normal variability: If you recheck your LDL 3 days in a row, you'll get 3 different results. There's normal day to day variation. Human beings are not machines! The LDL measurement is not like the gas gauge in your car. LDL

If : If diets an exercise have failed to keep off weight then surgery is an option to consider. The usual insurance criteria are a bmi or body mass index greater than 40 or greater than 35 with an obesity related medical problem such as diabetes, hypertension or sleep apnea. There are several operations performed including adjustable gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass or bilio-pancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. Most insurance in new york covers these operations in appropriate patients. Understanding the options and choosing the right operation should be done with a qualified surgeon.
