Get checked out!: We don't have enough information to give you a specific answer, we don't know if you have hurt yourself, or if you have problems urinating, or if you are sexually active. But the bottom line is this, if you have had new testicular pain that has lasted for two days, you need to find out what is going on.  So go see a doc!  You don't want it to get worse, do you?

Testicular pain: This is probably the normal protective pain that nature has provided to protect the testicles from harm.

i had a bilateral hernioplasty done about 2 months ago and i am still having testicular discomfort. it almost feels as though its my spermatic cord that is hard and firm- extending from inside my scrotum up to my groin. is this normal??

Testis pain: At your age, torsion of the testicle has to be ruled. You could be having intermittent torsion. A Doppler scrotal U/S should help make the diagnosis. If you can't be seen by your doctor ASAP , go to the ER.

Need more info: This could be the tip of the iceberg so to speak. There are several reasons that  are possible for your complaint. Please see your family physician for an initial exam who may then refer you to a urologist.

R/O EPIDIDIMYTIS : Testiciular pain demands a through evaluation. EXam/LABS/TESTICULAR US. Your symptoms are consistent with epididimytis v varicocoele v spermatocoele. Discuss with your dr. He may start empiric abs ie DOXYCYCLINE/CIPRO usually a prolonged course is needed 6-8wks. Unlikely to cause fertility issues.

Torsion: Yes, Get checked.  Although the swelling and pain could be something else it is important to get torsion corrected sooner than later.  Hours do make a difference with this problem.

Dr to examine testis: Testicle pain means a trip to the doctor right away because the testicle's blood supply can be twisted off (called torsion). When that happens, the testicle can die. Other causes of testicle pain include trauma, infection, twisting of an appendix of a testicle (a small lump next to a testicle), etc... Since a guy usually cannot tell if his testicle is twisting, an exam by the doctor is needed.
