Left Hand Pain: Hello. Need more information. Are you left hand dominant?Any trauma involved? What activities aggravate your left hand pain? Does it stay in your hand or radiate into your wrist or forearm?  Might benefit from topical voltaren (diclofenac) gel or lidocaine gel. These would need to be prescribed.

Take breaks, and...: If keyboard is lower than desk surface, tilt the back edge of the keyboard slightly down. Keep wrists in a neutral (straight) position—not bent up or down. Keep elbows at a slightly open angle-90˚ or greater. Keep shoulders relaxed, and elbows at side. Don't use wrist rests or armrests while typing-only while resting. If you have a broad chest, consider a "split" keyboard.

No: If you are referring to a urinary catheter then no.  If you are referring to an IV catheter in your hand then yes it is possible to have some pain after the catheter is removed.  If pain persists greater than a few days or if it appears red, hot, and/or swollen then see your md as soon as possible.

Clean the wound: Make sure the wound is cleaned out by rinsing with large amount of water for 5 minutes.  Avoid use of  rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine or mercurochrome as this may harm tissue or delay healing. Make sure cat has been vaccinated against rabies. Follow up with doctor if there is any difficulty with movement of hand or fingers,swelling around the wound or cat has not been rabies vaccinated

De Quervain's?: There is a condition "de Quervain's disease" that results from inflammation in the wrist and thumb causing pain. This is associated with repetitive use, such as in lifting an infant from a crib or ground, wringing laundry...Pain when twist your wrist or lift something between your thumb and finger.  Get evaluated. A specific splint can be made, ice and anti-inflammatory, and physical therapy.

Yes: Yes, but if the pain does not disappear, the cause needs to be identified. It can be tendon/joint problems (arthritis, tendinitis, etc.) or nerve disease (carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.). Many of these conditions are treatable and the tests (blood work, x-rays, nerve conduction tests) are available through your regular physician. If no abnormality is found, the problem may still be ergonomic.
