Ovulation: Pain during ovulation is a subjective feeling. Normally, women don't have any symptoms when they ovulate. If you wanted to know whether you ovulated this month or not, you should have done an ovulation test. Now, you won't really know. Sometimes women who don't ovulate skip their period and go without one until the next month or when the lining grows too thick and just sheds in bleeding.

Ovulation pain: Ovulation pain or Mittelschmerz last minutes or hours on the day of ovulation. If you are having pain only during ovulation then this may be the cause. If you are having pain at other times then an Obgyn evaluation may be needed

Second opinion: You should probably get another opinion to be sure nothing is being missed.  Sometimes even pain from ovulation is a sign of a pathologic problem that warrants treatment - medical and/or surgical.

always get moderate pain/tenderness when ovulating from right ovary, but rarely get pain when ovulating from left ovary? why is this?

Keep left: Try and ovulate just from the left ovary from now on. But since that probably isn't possible and I have no idea how you know which ovary you are ovulating from you may want to discuss this with your Gyn doctor. Some ibuprofen may help during these pains regardless of which side they are coming from.

i've been having pain or discomfort in my left ovary since ovulation im now 5 to 6 dpo and sore nipple is there something wrong?

Symptoms: Very often after ovulation you can have pain in the ovary. Often it is caused by bleeding into the ovary. You can read about hemorrhagic corpus luteum.   The ovary make continue to secrete Progesterone at high levels and that would cause the breast tenderness. Hope this is helpful.

Sore Breasts: Sore breasts can have many causes other than pregnancy. Excessive caffeine and salt can both contribute to tenderness. Tenderness is also commonly experienced in the second half of the cycle due to progesterone. Pain in an ovary can be associated with ovulation or with a corpus luteum cyst that forms after ovulation. Should end w/flow: Minor cyclical breast discomfort is normal. It will likely dissipate with the onset of your menstrual flow. It usually involves both breasts and is more commonly diffuse. It is caused by normal hormonal changes associated with ovulation that stimulate the proliferation of normal glandular breast tissue and result in pain. Being on oral contraceptive pills can also cause it.

Mittelschmerz: There are several explanations for the cause of this pain. Just prior to ovulation, follicle growth may stretch the surface of the ovary, causing pain. At the time of ovulation, fluid or blood is released from the ruptured egg follicle and may cause irritation of the abdominal lining.
